5 Musts for Health, Happiness, and the Highest Ever Performance

We all know that good mental health is important, because the mind is where all thoughts, action, decisions, and behavior originates. It’s important to feel good, not just because we deserve to enjoy our lives but from a neurological, physiological, psychotherapeutic and even spiritual perspective, it’s actually how humans function at an optimum and at our best. Feeling elevated, balanced, and well (constantly, not just on the weekend or when we are ‘not working’) is how we are designed to be. This is what peak performance, wellbeing in the workplace, and true mental wellbeing is. Wellbeing- especially in the throes of business in action- is not a luxury. Its evolution.

Hustle culture is over, my friend. From 2025 onwards, prioritizing wellbeing is how we are going to get the best results in businesses, as well as in love and life. But this doesn’t mean we compromise on performance- oh, no. Quite the opposite. Just how Yogis and sages describe Nirvana or Enlightenment to be ‘pure bliss’, neuroscientist Candace Pert (who had the prestigious Lakser award stolen from her, precursor to the Nobel Prize) describes in her work- “we are meant to function and make decisions from a state of bliss. It’s how the human being is designed.”

Macrocosmically speaking, the point of all creation is to grow and evolve, which for humans means into the best version of ourselves (at work, included) while experiencing & enjoying the journey of growth to the fullest along the way. It’s inescapable. (And if you have been trying to escape the growth part, it’s likely the cause of your suffering. The success I had treating myself 10 years ago and the 800+ people since can attest to that) Thankfully, evolution gets to come with feeling really, really good. Again, it’s how we were designed.

Feeling good, being good, and performing well all start with optimum mental health. Because all true happiness, true health, and true high performance start in the mind. Just like the nucleus is the control center of a cell where the master plans are stored and key decisions are made, the mind is the control center and the HQ of your happiness, the HQ of your businesses, the HQ of your physical health (think: stressors & lifestyle choices that contribute to disease), your relationships, and the satisfaction you extract from it all. It’s the CEO’s office.

“As a man thinketh, so is he.” — Proverbs 23:7

Your minds hold the blueprint for how you perceive, process, and participate in reality. Where all thinking, decisions and actions originate. It’s how you create you reality. The mind is the real apex of creation.

All of civilization — from law to art to architecture — started in someone’s mind first. Many wisdom traditions, from Buddhism to neuroscience, agree: your mind can be your master or your servant. Untrained, it loops in fear, scarcity, and sabotage. Trained, it unlocks fulfillment, clarity, and performance. And just like any meal, the higher the quality each ingredient is, the better the result.

So lets make sure yours is healthy, happy, and high performing with these 5 High-Performance Keys (and guys, make sure you read #5, because it’s a doozy and the icing on the cake):

5 Must-Haves for Health, Happiness, and High Performance

There’s a common myth that performance comes at the cost of wellbeing. In reality, the trick is in integrating them. Health, happiness, and high performance are not three different goals — they’re the same system. When your habits, mindset, and subconscious patterns are aligned, excellence becomes sustainable. Here are five non-negotiables for anyone looking to elevate their life from the inside out.

# 1. Healthy Habits: Eat, Sleep, Move

Sleep, nutrition, and exercise aren’t just good habits — they’re the biological baseline for high-functioning cognition, emotional stability, and long-term productivity. Plus, it helps you and your nervous system to enjoy what you do, enriching your quality of life.

Sleep affects memory, mood, and decision-making. Poor sleep reduces attention span and impairs executive function (Harvard Medical School, 2022). According to the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda, waking with the sun aligns your body to its optimal energy cycle. Modern research supports this: waking before 6 a.m. and sunrise improves circadian rhythms, mental clarity, and hormonal balance. There is a reason the 5am club exists, and its because these people discovered healthier highs. And, on a practical level, when you get up earlier you have the extra time you need to make yourself and the things you do exceptional. Which could be things like reading, writing, meditation, or going to the gym to exercise discipline.

What this also means is that some of you will sacrifice your late-night Netflix binges, which is a good thing (I was there, once). The immense pleasure & satisfaction you experience by cutting it out and doing something impactful will far surpass the meager dopamine you get from TV or ‘drinks till late’. Take it from someone who has crossed over and seen the light. There is little more pleasurable or enriching than being the best version of yourself. You will likely experience a different, healthier high that leave nighttime vices in the dust, to be enjoyed in moderation (or not at all).

Sharpen the body to sharpen the mind. Exercise enhances neuroplasticity and reduces cortisol. Just 20 minutes of movement per day is proven to boost focus, reduce anxiety, and increase energy. Moreover, something fascinating I discovered is that people perform better after exercise because of the effect on the nervous system. When do something as challenging and engaging as exercise, anything else you do throughout the rest of the days feel far easier and therefore more enjoyable. However, not all exercise or movement is created equal. Stay tuned for my article on Movement for Mental Mastery for more.

Good nutrition nourishes not just the body, but also the mind and soul. Your food is quite literally fuel (take it from someone who lived on champagne and soy lattes for the first half of her adult life while she was working in fashion- and then noticed the difference when she cleaned up her act). You are what you eat, and nutrition (or lack therof) affects brain chemistry. Diets rich in omega-3s, antioxidants, and protein improve neurotransmitter function and mood stability. Eat only whole foods, and for God’s sake don’t buy anything without reading the ingredients! If you don’t know what some of the ingredients are on a label, maybe its best you don’t put in in your body. Back in 2012 when I had eating disorders, I didn’t see fuel as food. (And curing my eating & addictive disorders on my own is how I got into mental health, wellbeing and performance to begin with.) Now I can see how much it actually quite literally nourishes mind, body, and soul.

Your diet- much like all your choices, from thoughts & words to people and lifestyle- move in either 2 directions: towards growth & wellbeing, or decay. I would also (highly, highly) recommend supplementation, but only with the best supplements on the market that actually do what they claim. I get mine from an old client of mine, @kateliving, from Divine Alchemy Supplements. Use the code NADINE for money off)

While absolutely everyone is capable of being impeccably structured and disciplined, some people need a little help to get there. So if you struggle with consistency or motivation, or have found it difficult to stick to routines, habits, or schedules. you’re not alone. Many of my clients come in feeling scattered, depleted, hopeless, or burnt out. Plus, I have walked through many of these fires first myself. The unique methodology I incorporate in my 1 on 1 work uses motivation and behavior science, neuro-coaching and ancient wellbeing secrets to help you unlock the character traits you require for wherever you want to go, and rewire your habits without willpower or fatigue.

#2. Soul Alignment & Flow State

Soul alignment refers to the congruence between who you truly are — your deepest values, desires, and purpose — and how you live and work. It’s what happens when your inner compass is steering the ship, not just your calendar or KPI targets. It’s the harmony between your inner most self and your external life. When this harmony exists, individuals experience a sense of peace, clarity, and vitality. And this sense of peace, clarity and vitality means making the right choices for your life and business – even the seemingly minute ones, down to what words to use in your marketing, who to hire or and what to eat- exponentially more effortless and infinitely more enjoyable. With this connection and inner guidance available to you, you will always side-step stress, avoid burnout, and stop yourself from making the wrong choices that can lead to financial losses, or failure at your hands. There is atransformative power that arises from living in alignment with ones authentic self, which modern research also supports.

Studies indicate that individuals who experience this alignment report higher levels of well-being, resilience, and performance. Employees who experience a sense of purpose alignment with their work specifically report:

• 64% higher fulfillment

• 50% greater productivity

• 2.7x higher engagement (Harvard Business Review, 2018).

A sense of purpose (or ‘Dharma”in Hindi spiritual teachings or Ikigai in Japanese, shaped by Confucianism and Zen Buddhism) is especially important for fulfilment and direction, especially if you are male.

When your work reflects who you are (or you become the person you need to be to get achieve the goals you want, depends what end of the spectrum you are at) you don’t need to force motivation — it becomes intrinsic. There are highly effective ways to inspire and create intrinsic motivation for yourself or your workforce, which I provide in my coaching, healing and training programs.

Moreover, the concept of “flow,” introduced by psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, describes a state of complete immersion and enjoyment in activities that align with one’s skills and passions. Achieving flow is associated with increased productivity and satisfaction, and some experts (🙋🏻‍♀️) would argue that the spontaneous emergence of flow is a facet of the soul and its alignment.

Deep down, all we really seek is alignment with our soul. We are programmed for it. Listening to society, and sometimes even those that love you most, will not always get you there. When I cured myself (completely by myself) of anorexia, bulimia, and substance misuse back in 2014, it was because of my spiritual awakening. This awakening is what made me make better life choices (like quitting both alcohol and smoking, which I did not because I wanted to, but because I felt like it. Which is infinitely more powerful) effortlessly, and navigate my life with clarity and ease. It was because of these internal shifts that I switched from a fun and easy career in fashion, to the deep, meaningful and transformative work I do today.

In my work, I’ve seen time and again: when the soul is ignored, symptoms surface. Emotional distress, self-sabotage, chronic fatigue, addiction, anxiety and even depression can often be traced back to a life lived out of alignment. Because the nervous system can’t regulate around inauthenticity for too long. Much of the success that I have had with my clients as well as in my own life, is a result of awakening the soul and listening to its cues.

While you may get incredible financial results in your business without soul alignment- will you deeply enjoy them? Will they create the results you want in your personal life, like true love? Will you be truly, deeply happy? Not from what I have seen. True fulfillment, deep pleasure and sustainable peace cannot exist without the soul being on board. From both my personal and professional experience I can say: All the money in the world cannot compete against the simple internal bliss that comes from soul-level alignment. Many spiritual teachings, from the essence of Ramadan to the wisdom of Buddhism, teach austerity to communicatee this understanding: Pleasures of the flesh are temporary, while pleasures of the soul are eternal. The sweetest and most sustainable success comes from a union of internal with the external, and the journey associated with it. to While it is sweeter to suffer in a Mercedes than in a Toyota, it is even sweeter not to suffer at all.

Soul alignment also means the manifestation of virtues which we elaborate on later. You could very much be stuck in a right or repeating the same patterns (failure, dissatisfaction, heartbreak, toxic people or managers) because your soul is looping in karmic patterns or there is some virtue you need to master in this this life. Wild, I know. The soul knows where it’s going, even better than you do. Tune in and trust it.

In my 1 on 1 work I use a system as unique as you are help you to tune into the inner voice and make changes in your mind, heart and lifestyle to become the best, happiest, healthiest and wealthiest version of yourself in the most effortless of ways. Just like I did for me. (And Because you feel like thinking or behaving differently not just because you want to. Which in many cases, is even more powerful)

“Don’t gain the world and lose your soul; wisdom is better than silver or gold.” -Bob Marley

#3 Priming The Mind

There was a study on high performers in which their brain scans were measured to find commonalities between them, and then with another group of mentally exceptional individuals. These self actualized, world class experts where the top in their fields, ranging from CEO’s to athletes, and artists to entertainers. And all their brain scans showed one thing in common: left-right brain integration. Their brain scans showed a synergy between the left and the right hemispheres of the brain, resulting in what is called ‘peak state’ where they effortlessly function and deliver at their optimum, sometimes even surpassing what they claimed their own pervious ability. This a version of ‘flow state’. And this harmony and synergy was found to exist one place else: in the brain scans of practiced, seasoned meditators.

Meditation sharpens the mind the way sleep sharpens memory: silently, consistently, and powerfully. For CEOs, leaders, and entrepreneurs, it’s the single most potent tool for strategic clarity, emotional regulation, and high-pressure decision-making.

· Meditation and mindfulness practices have been studied to increase productivity by 30%, job satisfaction by 30%, empathy by 30% , according to studies by the American Psychological Association and Harvard University.

· Leaders who use mindfulness & visualization techniques enhanced emotional intelligence, are better able to handle high-pressure situations, manage teams effectively, improve workplace dynamics. Also report increased emotional regulation, decreased burnout, better decision-making and higher team morale. (Harvard Business Review

· Meditation reduces stress by 60%, lowers cortisol, and improves sleep quality (National Institutes of Health).

· Managers participating in meditation programs often report improved leadership abilities, treating team members with greater empathy and fostering a more inclusive and supportive work environment.

· Reduced Healthcare Costs: A study published by Forbes reported that companies offering wellness programs including mindfulness and meditation, saw a 40% reduction in healthcare costs over the course of a year. This reduction was linked to lower stress levels, fewer sick days, and decreased healthcare claims among employees. (Source: Forbes, “How Meditation Can Save Businesses Money,” 2019)

You will find that a regular meditation practice is like sprinkling magical fairy dust on your life. You will find clarity and solutions for yourself that you didn’t even know existed. Dots will connect for you, and i’s and t’s will dot and cross themselves. It’s also a little like having tidied a messy house or closet, and being able to find all these great thing you forgot about.

If you find it challenging to sit in meditation, its due to blocks at an unconscious level, unprocessed emotion, or mental clutter. And these same unconscious, mental-emotional blocks or clutter are also very likely what stand between you and your next level, and the consistency, ability, or results you desire.

Meditation combined with being consistently solution oriented (as opposed to problem focused) primes the mind for success, providing neuro-intellectual advantage and cerebral superiority.

While meditation helps to harness the power the conscious mind, one must work with the unconscious as well. Which brings us to our next must-have:

4. How the Magic Happens: A Fertile Unconscious . *picture of iceberg*

What you think, you become. “As a man thinketh, so is he.” — Proverbs 23:7 Or, as Rene Descartes puts it, ‘I think therefore I am’.

Humans self- actualize. If we think we are great (deep down, not just superficially) than you will be presented with evidence in life affirming that you are great. Same goes for good-looking, confident, stupid, or successful.

Your unconscious is the soil where every success or struggle takes root. Up to 95% of your daily thoughts, emotions, and behaviorsare driven by your incredibly powerful unconscious mind. Its 30,000 times more powerful than your conscious mind that makes up the interpretation of your 5 senses. That means most of what you do, feel, and experience (or struggle wit)h isn’t actually under conscious control — it’s coming from patterns and programs buried beneath the surface.

The unconscious stores everything: belief systems, emotional memories, somatic imprints, trauma, and your learned perception of the world. It’s also deeply linked to the nervous system and immune function — meaning unresolved unconscious material can manifest as anxiety, depression, autoimmune issues, heartbreak, failure, or stagnation in your career.

For high performance to be sustainable — and for health and happiness to be real instead of difficult or performative — the unconscious must be onboard and in alignment with your goals. Without this integration, you can experience internal resistance, emotional reactivity, chronic stress, burnout, and an inability to break through invisible plateaus (no matter how much mindset work or ‘work-work’ you do). You can rise as high as your roots grow deep. To ignore your unconscious when working towards goals is to throw seeds into the wind and hope they land in the right place. Work with it, and you can harvest fruits that can surpass logic, reason and even your own imagination.

Many high achievers have tapped into the power of the unconscious to enhance their performance. Albert Einstein reportedly used self-hypnosis to develop his theories, while athletes like Tiger Woods have employed visualization techniques rooted in unconscious processing to improve focus and performance. This is why modern superstars like Oprah Winfrey, Jim Carrey, and Ray Dalio credit their growth and fulfillment to deep inner work — including the things you can do by yourself, like meditation, visualization and somatic practices (because the soma is an extension of the unconscious). They understood that real power doesn’t just come from working harder — it comes from working deeper. And even though I have been using subconscious based practices with my clients for over a decade, I am still sometimes amazed at the depth, breath and impact of this work. That’s how beautiful and powerful it is.

Let’s look at some of the numbers, shall we?

· NLP (Neuro linguistic programming, which works with the unconscious mind) based coaching resulted in significant reductions in stress and improvements in emotional well-being. Participants showed a 40% decrease in anxiety and 30% reduction in feelings of burnout.

· Up to 30% increase in productivity for employees practicing mindfulness and meditation (from the American Psychological Association)

· Salespeople who practiced mental imagery and NLP-based techniques were 20-30% more successful in meeting sales targets (Study from UCLA).

· Individuals who utilized NLP-based goal-setting techniques experienced a 40% higher success rate.

Some of the most important work you can do with your subconscious- and ever, really- is to work on identifying and aligning your values. Your values are responsible for 95% of all intrinsically (self initiated) motivation. (!!)

Self initiated motivation is what sticks, because the best change comes from the inside. It’s much easier to go to the gym if you’re excited about it and feel like it, and it’s much easier to stop smoking if you actually want to and don’t feel like lighting up, right? This is self initiated or intrinsic motivation, which also applies to all actions and desires.

The strongest change force ever is your own internal, self initiated motivation and authentic thoughts and feelings. Values are at the root of change and have a major effect on the longevity of the changes we make. Values are those things (or notions) that we are willing to expend resources for, or to obtain resources to have. Values are largely unconscious, and at the deepest level they drive a person’s true purpose as a human being. Values govern ALL human behavior.

First, they provide the push or the kinesthetic drive as prior motivation for our actions. (“Feeling” like having this otherwise difficult conversation, putting down the fork, starting the project, or going to the gym). Second, they serve as after the fact evaluation criteria, or judgment about our actions. Values are the way we judge good and bad, right and wrong, appropriateness and inappropriateness. And the best thing is that it all happens with the strongest change force there is- which exists inside you already. Amazing!

Your values reflect what matters most to you at a core level — not just what you like, but what feels right. Studies in moral cognition and neuroethics (like those from the University of Chicago and the Damasio Institute) show that value-based decision-making activates parts of the brain associated with identity, empathy, and meaning — not just logic. This suggests that our deepest values are processed as felt truths, not rational conclusions.

Soul disconnection often shows up as value conflict. When you’re out of alignment with your core values — say, chasing success in a way that violates your integrity or peace — you’ll feel it as anxiety, depression, burnout, or dissatisfaction. This is often a soul-level protest. The body and mind know when we’re betraying ourselves. Values are a compass for soul alignment. Think of values as the GPS and the soul as the destination. When your life, work, and relationships reflect your values, you move closer to your most aligned, fulfilled state — what many spiritual traditions call dharma or right path.

It’s very interesting what people value. I know someone who doesn’t order out much to save money- but they will regularly fly business class, and pay full price. You are naturally drawn to things that align up with your values.

There are levels and percentages to the strength of values, and it can surprise you what you learn about yourself and what lives in your deep. So what would you like to value more and therefore be fully committed to and inspired by, especially on an unconscious level where 90% of your mental power lies?

Is it wealth? When You are unconsciously aligned with wealth, you will naturally find yourself sending more emails maybe, exploring a different market, or networking with more confidence joy, or effortlessly and confidently asking for the sale.

If want to value peace more, let’s say to combat your anxiety, you may find yourself thinking different thoughts next time someone says something that would usually stress or hurt you, or that you’re feeling more centered and picking less arguments with your spouse or sister… You may even finally recognize what those triggers are that cause you to drink, drug, or feel that you need to cope.

If you were to unconsciously value joy more you may find yourself staying off Instagram and picking up a book instead, or having a difficult conversation with that friend or employee who you think is a buzzkill. If you unconsciously valued health or fitness more, you may naturally feel like eating healthier things and are put off by alcohol, or you allow yourself to actually enjoy the gym and the way it makes you feel.

If you valued performance, growth, or career more, you could find yourself sleeping earlier, getting off Netflix, and waking up better & fresher to dominate & meditate. Values run deep. Just like your own unconscious mind, whether you have realized that yet or not.

Want to take a closer look at what’s swimming (or sinking) inside you, so that you can always feel and function at your absolute best? Values work forms an integral part of the unique methodology I employ in my 1 on 1 work with clients. Because sometimes, it isn’t just what you are doing or not doing that is holding you back from the results you seek. Often, it’s what’s cooking underneath. Correct alignment between the conscious and unconscious fosters a state of flow, where actions become effortless, innate genius surfaces, and cognitive function is at its peak.

5. Being Your Best You

When you are committed to being the best version of yourself and with all that you do, you will find far more satisfaction in all processes, as well as with the final result. This focus on personal growth (because growth is unavoidable, really. Everything in nature grows and evolves, or it becomes obsolete and dies. All the seasons attest to that) will ensure that you are capable of going the distance to reach your goals, and that you enjoy the process. Little can give you such deep pleasure and satisfaction as being connected to who you really are, and all that you can be. It’s a little like going to the gym. Which do you enjoy more, and what gets you the best results? Showing up and half-assing each rep or set? Or sweating it out properly, and leaving knowing that you gave your best?

It’s not just about how well you do the job or how much money you make- but how much satisfaction you derive from it. What good is all the food in the world, if it’s not tasty? Or if you’re not truly hungry? Because sometimes we think were hungry, when we’re actually thirsty. And sometimes, you eat not because you’re hungry, but because you are using food to cope, distract, or because you’re seeking the wrong pleasure in the wrong place. (Check out my webinar on Coping & Addiction for a more in depth look at that specific point.) Making money and work-ohlicism can be the same. Sometimes people use numbers at the finish line as a temporary high or self esteem boost. These highs aren’t the ones that last. Because unless you have taken a very good look at yourself via thorough personal development work, you may not even completely really know yourself, or why you do, or don’t do certain things. Because how can you truly know yourself (and I mean deeply) without truly knowing how all your mental and sensory faculties work?

Satisfaction can come from many things, and not reaching your final destination (because why else would we fly business class?) And in my humble (and correct) opinion, some of the sweetest satisfaction you will ever get is by being the best version of yourself. Being the best version of yourself comes with being really satisfied with yourself, which is as much about the journey as it is the destination. Kind of like sex (or so I hear). This satisfaction comes from within, and the journey of personal growth along the way is part of it.

It isn’t just skills that define a high performer, its range and capacity. Ultimately- like with many things in life- being simultaneously healthy, happy and high performing comes down to who you are at your core. Even when no one is looking. It’s who you are being, not just what you are doing. Beingis at the intersection between doing and feeling.

Different parts of your job (or life) will require different qualities from you in order for you, or ‘personal skills’ -as opposed to the professional ones you should already have nailed down to be doing whatever it is that you are doing to a good degree. Excelling and high-performing with happiness and ease (in business or in any area) is kind of like cooking or following any recipe. If you have good ingredients (qualities, traits and states) and follow the recipe (the know-how of your job or role and how to complete the task at hand) you will likely be satisfied (or impressed!) with the end result, and so would your dinner guests. (Barring a kitchen fire, that is). And sometimes, if we think we don’t know how to cook, its because we are missing a key ingredient- like self belief, self love, self awareness, self trust, or faith. It’s not really your cooking skills. Be mindful of that.

And know that every single characteristic in life you need to get where you want to go can be identified, unlocked, and amplified far more easily and effortlessly than you may think, as long as you are working with the right person. The qualities, sates and traits (which are actually virtues of the Soul) required to thrive in business (and in life) are:

· Self-awareness – The foundation of growth; If you want to improve at something, you need to know what your weak points are. You can’t improve what you don’t notice. (Like being ok with and understanding triggers- see my blog post on that). Plus, if you want to take the right exit on the highway you need to know where you are.

· Confidence – Fuels action and grants satisfaction. Believe you can, and you will.

· Determination – Keeps you going when motivation is missing, so every day is great.

· Resilience – Bounce back better, not just faster. With the valuable wisdom & experience gained.

· Insight – Learn from within; your unconscious holds gold.

· Willpower – Crucial for staying aligned with your goals, even when it doesn’t feel easy.

· Discipline – Turns inspiration into long-term results, helping you to make the most out of each day.

· Calm (under pressure) & the absence of stress – Keeps your decisions sharp when it matters most, enabling you to have a birds eye view of any situation. Remember, stress is perceived, not real. Explore where it really comes from. Most stress comes from fear of loss or death, with no grounds in logic or the actual present.

· Energy, Energy Management & Vitality- Your battery has to be fully charged. See point #1. Energy management is not just time management — it’s vitality and boundaries, protect yourself you path, and what you value. Also, heavy emotions and thoughts can drain energy, so be aware and have that locked down.

· Foresight – Anticipate challenges and position yourself ahead.

· Joy – The fuel of sustainability; success should feel good.Plus feel good chemicals literally nourish your cells on a cellular level, while cortisol eats away at it. (You can actually see healthy cells moving away from cortisol on a petri dish)

· Ambition – Drives expansion and evolution — personally and professionally.

· Clarity – Cuts through overwhelm and guides action.

· Emotional intelligence – Enabling you to properly care for and get the most from everyone around you. Like with many things, starts first with self awareness. Lead with power and grace.

· Empathy – Connect deeper, lead stronger. Forge better relationships.

· Self-belief – Non-negotiable. Your results will never outgrow your self-image.

· Self-love – Because enjoying the journey is the whole point.

· Charisma – To make it fun for you, first, and everyone around you. Remember, one of the greatest joys is being who you really are. And, if you’re into that sort of thing like- influence with authenticity and magnetism.

· Vision – Know where you’re going so you don’t get lost in the noise.

· Mental agility – Adapt, pivot, solve — fast.

· Emotional control – Master your state, master your outcomes. Calm is a superpower. Learn to Respond, not react. Stay in your power. Plus, keeps the blood pressure low!

· Intuition – The original GPS system. Highly, higly accurate when finely tuned. More on that in my blog.

· Alignment: Operate from your values. Align with your soul. This is the root of ease and sustainability.

· Authenticity / Self-expression – You’re most powerful- and the happiest-when you’re most you. (As long as you are in a good place mentally, that is).

And, especially if your high-performing role extends to being a partner, parent, or healer/holistic therapist/coach working in an intimate and people-centric service based role like myself:

· Unconditional love- so can guide & give the person in front of you your absolute best, without any of your personal ‘stuff’ getting in the way.

While you may possess all of the qualities, to be a true high performer functioning at your peak while also deriving deep satisfaction and fulfilment from your endeavors (because again, that is the point) you want to be at the higher end of the spectrum for all aforementioned characteristics. For example, lets say you were to rate you confidence at a 7/10. While 7 is seemingly on the high side.. its not a 10/10, is it?. (I mean what did you go to Yale for if you can’t speak to a girl at a bar, or if you have to Chat GPT your DM banter?) A 7/10 VS. 10/10 is the difference between an A+, or a C-. Would you be happy with a C- in life? Or in business? You may be. But imagine- how much happier would you be, and how much better would you feel, and how much greater would you build, if you were at an A+? And with little extra effort? How incredible would life be if you were 100% on point, all of the time?

I know many people who think they are at an 8 with a specific (or several) qualities in their life. Let’s look at Self Awareness, or Joy, for example. In some cases, you may think you are at an 8/10 with joy, or even a 10! But, after doing some personal development work where your coach/therapist points out your blind spots and how you haven’t been applying the theory that you learned, (to use the gym metaphor again- “You are not actually getting 120 g of protein in then, now are you?!’) and then helps you to make the shifts or unclogs your system so you experience more elevated joy, is when you actually are at and experience a 10. That is when you realize that you were actually at a 5 before, and that difference is what was holding you back from where you wanted to be. I know many people like this. This even happened to me! It can be quite a blessings as well, because it means that as good as things may be- they can get even better! Be humble, and stay open to growth.

And coming full circle on some of the points I made in the intro, having qualities, virtues traits and states to a high degree ensures that all your thoughts, therefore all your decisions, feelings actions and therefore results, will be at a high and satisfying level. In my 1 on 1 work with clients I help to identify, unlock and amplify the most relevant traits to their absolutely highest degrees, and in the most easeful and effortless of ways.

Ultimately this is being the best version of yourself. Or, as Abraham Maslow puts it, ’Self Actualized’. And when we are self actualized and being the best version of ourselves, is when we can consistently access peak states of flow producing our highest level of work, even sometimes effortlessly bypassing what we thought were the limits of our abilities.

And let me tell you, as someone who has been around the block a few times, thrown herself a few rodeos and colored outside the lines in life, no drink, no drug, person, bank account, and no or external ‘experience’ holds a candle to what genuine, authentic connection to a healthy, happy, balanced, aligned and developed Self or Soul (because they overlap) feels like. Much like self actualization.

Nothing can replicate the immense peace, joy or bliss that already exists within you, even if you haven’t unlocked or found it- yet.
